Lennie Tristano's legacy of influential achievements in the field of jazz includes pioneering early multi-track recordings, the first recordings of group free-improvisation in 1949, introducing new levels of rhythmic and harmonic complexity as well as a prolific teaching career with many notable students including Lee Konitz, Warne Marsh, Charles Mingus, Connie Crothers and Sheila Jordan.
